Business Profile - Perfectly Crafty Retreats

Name: Sonja Bean
Company: Perfectly Crafty Retreats

1. Tell us a little about your business.

Our crafting retreats are for groups of five women ages 18 and over. Your cabin will have 5 twin beds (all linens provided) located in two bedrooms, with 1-1/2 baths and a craft area with TV and DVD player. The craft area includes 8 foot tables and two 4 foot tables that can be configured to meet the crafter's. All crafters, including scrapbookers, stampers, quilters and beaders will enjoy their uninterrupted time and comfortable work space.

2. Why did you decide to start your own business?

I started my own business to stay home with my children. I started out as a Creative Memories sales consultant. I frequently took my Creative Memories' customers on crafting retreats and fell in love with 'retreating'.

After the birth of our third child, my husband and I decided to move from the city to enjoy a slower paced lifestyle. We relocated to a rural area in the Texas Hill Country on 10 acres. Our new location made a perfect get-away! I started Perfectly Crafty Retreats because of my love for crafting retreats and my passion for cooking.

3. How did you get started?

by word of mouth and past customers.

4. What makes your company unique?

My company is unique because it caters to crafters and is a weekend get-away designed with them in mind. Because I had been on a lot of retreats, and am an active crafter, I knew what I liked and what my previous crafting customers liked as well.

5. What are some ways you market your business?

I have a website, blog and facebook page. I have also gotten business from previous Creative Memories clients, and through word of mouth referrals.

6. What has been most rewarding about working for yourself?

I can be home with my children and I get to do what I love doing.

7. What advice do you have for others starting their own business?

Follow your dream and it can be done.
